Athlete of the Week - Marie Louise Asselin

The AotW for February 15th to 21st is Marie Louise Asselin of WVU. Marie Louise ran 15:58.15 at the Big East Indoor Track Championship, winning the 5,000m. She set a WVU school record for the indoor 5,000m and then helped the team to a third place finish in the 4x800m. Clara Grandt was also in the 5,000 and ran 16:04.24. Her mark was also under the old record, which Clara owned. Both girls got their auto qualifiers for nationals.
Special hit tips to the high schoolers who went after some real competition at Kentucky and Akron, hit tip to the collegiates who did well and special hat tip to Chelsea Carrier for winning the BE indoor heptathlon and the 60mH. If this were not a distance site, she's be your AotW.

Athlete of the Week - Zach Tennant

The AotW for February 8th-14th is Zach Tennant of William & Mary. After setting two state meet records last year and winning 4 AotWs in 7 weeks, Mr. Tennant disappeared into the hinterlands of Williamsburg, Va. Well, he's popped back on the radar this weekend with a 4:16.70 showing in the mile, winning AotW. 4:16 during indoors bodes very well for Zach this spring. Best of luck to him. Tip o' the cap to everyone competing this past weekend, we're fast approaching indoor championship season...

Athlete of the Week - Clara Grandt

Track and Field Videos on Flotrack

The AotW for January 25th-31st is Clara Grandt of WVU. Clara won the Women's Invitational Mile at the Penn State National Meet, in a time of 4:48.40. She led a slew of good times for the WVU girls at PSU. The ladies are headed back up to PSU this weekend for another meet, best of luck.

Athlete of the Week - Travis Hamrick

The AotW for January 18th-24th is Travis Hamrick of Wheeling Jesuit University. Mr. Hamrick ran 1:55.46i over that weekend and is now the #2 800m guy in WV for 2010. Travis is an East Fairmont High School graduate (Go Bees!) and ran 1:52 last year. The fight in the WVIAC for 800m supremacy ought to be a good one yet again.
